The competition designed to get Britain back to baking received over 100 original cake recipes, all competing for the title of the 2nd Jane Asher Home Baker of the Year Award.

In addition to winning Home Baker of the Year 2005 title, Sandra will receive a luxury spa weekend break for two at the Westin Turnberry Resort in Scotland and a unique Jane Asher hamper.

Sandra said; “I have had a wonderful day and cannot believe that my cake won the competition, and that I am the 2005 Home Baker of the Year! The four other contestants’ cakes were delicious so I was very surprised when Jane Asher called my name out. I love baking for my friends and family and am sure they will be delighted when I tell them my exciting news.”

Jane said, “The standard of baking this year was outstanding and the judges thoroughly enjoyed tasting all the delicious cakes. Home baking is such a fun and satisfying activity, I’d love to see more people baking treats for their family and friends and realising the pure pleasure it brings”.
